I realized that I had posted this album cover a number of times, but never did talk about the actual recording. I first picked up this record in the early 1980’s, and to my ear no other performance of Mozart’s 4 Horn Concertos really works for me. Tuckwell has recorded these works numerous times, and it took me a while to finally track down this particular version in a modern release. The Decca 2CD Wind Concertos set not only has these works, it also includes the clarinet, flute, bassoon and oboe concertos in excellent performances.
